Day 4 (HALF DAY): 18th June
Metacognition and self-regulated learning is one of the most accessed strands of the EEF Teaching and Learning Toolkit and on average has an impact of 8 months of additional progress, however the majority of teachers are not clear exactly how this can be applied in classrooms to improve the outcomes for students.
This three day course will dig deeper into the ‘what’, the ‘why’ and the ‘how’ of metacognition. Based upon the EEF Guidance Report and cutting edge evidence, this course will enable you to make confident decisions that will help your pupils to become aware of their strengths and limitations and to select the appropriate strategies when undertaking a task.
Across the 3 day programme delegates will explore: what metacognition is, common misconceptions, the links between memory and metacognition, how to teach metacognitive skills and creating effective learners. As part of this programme delegates will also explore effective implementation to enable them to produce an action plan to identify how they will implement their learning in school.
